Thank you for your support! Today, the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee voted to advance S. 2661, the National Suicide Hotline Designation Act. This bill will create a nationwide easy-to-remember 3-digit (988) number to call for a mental health crisis and suicide prevention.*

In the final version, the committee included the part of the bill that would give states resources to better respond to mental health crises. Thanks to your senator’s actions, we are one step closer to 988 becoming a reality, along with the resources we need to improve the mental health crisis system.

S. 2661 will likely go to the Senate floor next for consideration by the full Senate, so stay tuned. For now, please click below to thank your senator for supporting this important legislation.

*If you or somebody you know is in mental health crisis help is available now. Text “NAMI” to 741741 or call the Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255. This bill will make the Suicide Prevention Lifeline phone number 3 digits, so it’s easier for people to remember.
